跟家長們溝通時，常遇到的其中一題問題是：「狀元是否真的很勤力，每天不眠不休地讀書？」 在我接近十年的IB教學生涯裏，教過不少成為狀元的國際文憑預科課程（簡稱IBDP）學生，我可以肯定的告訴大家，這些學生全都很勤力，但還是會有一般年青人的喜好，不同的是他們較其他同學更懂得有效管理時間。

曾經看過坊間很多錯誤的訊息或報導，誤導市民只需考美式的SAT I，便可以入讀心儀的大學，不用考高中公開試如International Baccalaureate國際文憑預科課程(簡稱IBDP)、GCE A-Level或DSE，這是完全錯誤的。這次想藉本文為大家講解清楚SAT是甚麽、這些考試之間的關係以及申請大學的基本要求等，讓各位能作適當的選擇和準備。
