In public examinations, no matter if it is I/GCSE or IBDP, precision matters most.

Students often stay at a mediocre grade or level because their writing is general and vague. For example, you would only get a B or 6/7 if you state, "Shakespeare presents Macbeth as evil as he wants to achieve power." Yes, you are not wrong, but your comment is also vague and imprecise.

To attain an A* or 9, you should write, "At the outset of the play, Shakespeare presents Macbeth's initial violence as justifiable as it is in service of the Kingdom of Scotland; yet, his increasing violent tendencies are portrayed as immoral and blasphemous as the play progresses as they only serve his selfish ambition to become king."
