"Lift up your faces, you have a piercing need / For this bright morning dawning for you / The horizon leans forward / Offering you space to place new steps of change."
Maya Angelou
A renowned civil rights activist, feminist, poet, and essayist, Maya Angelou is one of the most respected African American women. Her first autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969), received international acclaim, and she has also recited her poem "On the Pulse of Morning" (1993) at the first inaugural ceremony of Bill Clinton's presidency.
In this new year of 2026, I hope Angelou's poetic voice and unwavering perseverance can bring this world dawn, peace, and harmony. Happy New Year, everyone! 🩷🌈
