"I admit that twice two makes four is an excellent thing, but if we are to give everything its due, twice two makes five is sometimes a very charming thing too."

Notes from the Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Since this is the Theory of Knowledge essay season, let me introduce you to the world of Dostoevsky, the second author who has made me fallen in love with literature.

Fyodor Dostoevsky is an 19th Century Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist and journalist. Living under totalitarian Tsarist Russia, Dostoyevsky was exiled to execute compulsory military service for belonging to a literary group that is critical of the Tsar. His writing has heavily influenced Friedrich Nietzsche, Albert Camus, and Jean-Paul Sartre.

Even more, it is Dostoevsky who inspired 魯迅's 狂人日記. It is Dostoesvsky who inspired existentialism. It is Dostoesvsky who questioned the absolutism of 2+2 = 4.
