The classic gothic novel Frankenstein (1818) written by Mary Shelley, has an even more daunting subtitle "The Modern Prometheus". This subtitle blatantly points to humans' hubris in scientific inventions and the inevitable tragedy that results in both humans and their monstrous creation.
Being an inspiration for many science fiction that comes after it, including the Terminator film series, Shelley's warning to humanity is still as relevant as ever -- that humans' obsession with AI technology and its malicious application in warfares would definitely bring our own demise.
